Self Portrait + Photoshop DOF

I've been pretty much addicted to Photoshop today. I decided to add some sort of depth of field effect to my photo from before. I was using the quick selection tool to make layers from parts of my face (like edges), but it was pretty problematic and took me a while to get it right with. I'll probably use some other tool if I do this again.

I masked my face into a new layer above it all (damn, that sounds weird ).
I added a heavy gaussian blur to the first picture in the background.
Then I made 2 new layers above that which includes 2 cut outs from near the side of my face, and applied a medium amount of gaussian blur to the first one which was layered right above my masked face and was the smaller of the two, and applied a heavy amount of gaussian blur to the other layer, which was on top of everything.
Afterwards, (even after exporting,) I cropped it.



I hope to try this with other photos, soon. I'm getting a lot better with Photoshop. I really like experimenting in it.
