ghost by Sajextryus ghost by Sajextryus
I've been experimenting with drawing single color images (black and some alpha) after viewing a lot of artwork that's done a good job utilizing the simple scheme to make something elegant, and made this during that time. I didn't quite succeed in what I wanted to make, but it was good practice and I'll focus a bit more on what's being done in other people's work. Later I added in the bluish white fill to make it stand out a little bit. I tried shading it a bit, but that drove away from the minimalism and it made it stand out much less, and looked a bit convoluted. I probably could've changed the outline color, but I'll have to do that later. If I do, I'll update this.

I think this is a very good start to this icon, but it definitely looks unfinished. If you are looking for help as to what to do next, then here are a few pointers:
1. When you change the color of the lines, change them to a shade that is darker than the darkest color you use to shade him with.
Meaning, if you decide to shade him with purple, the outline of the ghost should be darker than the darkest purple that you use to shade.
2. To continue on with that, it would be good practice for you to shade him! Right now he looks a little flat and boring.
And you don't only have to shade him with grey tones for him to be a ghost: Remember that.
3. Finally, a common rule with make avatars like this is to add a white line around the outside of the lineart. This will make your avatar pop off of the page more, and it just looks cleaner.
I hope you keep working on this one :la: He is very cute, and I would like to see him finished.
